New NASP Resources: Vaccination Across the Cancer Care Journey

NASP is pleased to introduce a new suite of resources designed to support specialty pharmacists and their patients in navigating vaccination throughout the cancer care journey.

Oncology patients face an increased risk of infection due to both cancer itself and treatments that may suppress the immune system. Vaccination is an important component of supportive care, but determining which vaccines are appropriate, and when they should be administered, can be complex for both patients and the healthcare professionals who care for them.

Specialty pharmacists are uniquely positioned to help.

To support our members in this important role, NASP has developed practical, easy-to-use resources to help specialty pharmacists assess immunization considerations, counsel patients, and incorporate appropriate vaccination recommendations into the care of patients with cancer. Patient-facing materials provide clear, accessible information that can help patients better understand why vaccination matters, which vaccines may be recommended, and how timing may be affected by their cancer treatment.
