Temporary Pharmacist – The University of Michigan Student Health Service Pharmacy

The University of Michigan Student Health Service Pharmacy is looking for a temporary pharmacist to cover a staff absence. This ‘closed’ pharmacy only services students and staff of the University of Michigan.  Our #1 clientele are the students!  We do all we can to keep our patients happy and healthy throughout their tenure as a student at this University.  

The timeframe and hours are excellent.  The candidate will start around the second week of August and work through at least the third week of September; however, this is subject to change. This will provide the selected candidate two weeks to learn QS1, meet the staff, and to train. The pharmacy is only open Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm during the summer. No nights or weekends. 

Responsibilities include checking prescriptions for accuracy, filling, ordering, and lots of counseling.  It is a very rewarding and fun job that deals with young people and educating them on how to take their medication. We have a large population of international students that are new to American healthcare and need lots of compassion in their mission on campus with various health issues (illness, depression, etc.)

Per Diem Nurse, BioMatrix Specialty Pharmacy, Philadelphia, PA

A Registered Nurse for Home Infusion inserts, monitors and removes an IV used to give medications, blood products and nutrition to a patient. During the IV therapy, the nurse monitors the patient for adverse reactions and ensures that the tubing, bandages and needle stay in place. When a patient needs blood levels checked, an IV nurse performs a veinous phlebotomy. During the entire IV therapy process, the nurse obtains sets of vital signs, completes the physical assessment and review of systems, documents all patient-related activities and records the medications she uses.

The Associate Director of Specialty Pharmacy Services is responsible for assuring oversight, operations coordination, quality and cost effectiveness of pharmacy services provided by specialty pharmacy programs. This position directs assistant directors, coordinators and support personnel and works with them to assure optimal outcomes and works closely with the Director of Ambulatory Pharmacy Services in developing the strategic direction for the specialty pharmacy. The candidate for this position will be expected to identify and lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and process improvement of new and current programs, including the application and refinement of the pharmacy practice model and oversee the quality and outcomes programs required to maintain Utilization Review Accreditation Commission (URAC) and Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) specialty pharmacy accreditation requirements.
