The purpose of the program is to build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education and outcomes to develop community‐based Specialty pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills who are ready to enter Specialty Pharmacy practice and/or eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications.

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency in Specialty Pharmacy, University of Illinois Chicago Retzky College of Pharmacy, Chicago, IL
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency in Specialty Pharmacy is a dynamic program bringing together experiences within the UI Health Specialty Pharmacy Clinical Care Center, specialty outpatient clinics, and the dually accredited health system specialty pharmacy. The goal of this program is to produce a specialty pharmacy practitioner with advanced knowledge of the specialty pharmacy practice model and specialty disease state management. Upon completion of this program, graduates are well-positioned for a role in any specialty pharmacy setting or may pursue a PGY2 or fellowship for further specialized training.

CPS PGY1/2 Specialty Pharmacy Administration and Leadership with Masters, CPS Solutions, LLC, Akron, OH
The CPS PGY1/2 Specialty Pharmacy Administration and Leadership with Masters Residency program is dedicated to training residents in the first year to become clinical pharmacists in specialty pharmacy and the second year training consists of helping them become ready to serve as a clinical operations manager in specialty pharmacy. During the first year, the resident will gain exposure to various specialty disease states through specialty clinics within Summa Health such as autoimmune, cardiology, infectious disease, oncology, neurology, endocrine, and pulmonary. Additional longitudinal rotations include community wellness, central operations, specialty dispensing, outcomes research, and administration. A teaching certificate will be earned through Northeast Ohio Medical University. The second year will focus on management learning experiences including finance, regulatory compliance, operations, finance, and inventory. Throughout both years, the resident will be working towards completing a masters degree in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from The Ohio State University.

The CPS at Summa Health PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program is dedicated to training residents to become clinical pharmacists in the specialty setting. The resident has the opportunity to practice within Summa Health System specialty clinics including autoimmune, cardiology, infectious disease, neurology, oncology, endocrine, and pulmonary. Additional longitudinal learning experiences include central operations, community wellness, specialty dispensing, and administration. The resident will also complete two research projects alongside a preceptor focused in clinical outcomes research. A teaching certificate will also be earned through Northeast Ohio Medical University.

PGY2 Specialty Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency, Maxor, Amarillo, TX
This program provides an Enterprise level experience that includes opportunities for both onsite and remote support of regional offices and pharmacies located nationwide. Onsite activities may be completed at our specialty pharmacy located in Amarillo, Texas or at select Maxor-owned or managed specialty pharmacies located across the United States. The remainder of the program may be completed remotely via teleconferencing and electronic communication.
