Nick Calla, RPH is the Vice President Pharma Relations for BioMatrix Specialty Pharmacy, LLC. He has responsibility for the development of the relationships with the manufacturer community as it relates to products within their specialty portfolio. Prior to BioMatrix, Nick was the Vice President of Industry Relations for Cardinal Health Specialty Pharmacy division, a part of Cardinal Health Specialty Solutions. He had responsibility for the development of contracts and programs with the pharmaceutical industry as it relates to products within their specialty portfolio. Nick was also Vice President of Trade Relations for Community Specialty Pharmacy Network. He had the responsibility of business development as well as maintenance of the relationships with manufacturers around the country as it relates to access to particular products as well as the clinical programs designed to support those products. Nick also performed the same duties for Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy for 7 years in developing relationships with the manufacturing community on behalf of the specialty pharmacy.
Prior to Walgreens, Mr. Calla worked as Director of Clinical Programs and Network Administration for Eckerd Health Services. Mr. Calla was also President and General Manager of Oncology Pathways, which was a group purchase organization founded by the UPMC Cancer Center and Medmark Specialty Pharmacy. Therefore, Mr. Calla has experience working with both pharmaceutical manufacturing and retail pharmacy community and has also participated in several pharmacy and therapeutics committees.
Nick is a member of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy and is a Board Member of the National Association of Specialty Pharmacy. Nick is the past president of the Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board. Nick has expertise in the area of compliance, disease management, intervention programs, and in the area of negotiations with providers for a network. Nick received his bachelor’s of pharmacy degree from the University of Pittsburgh. Nick also received a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University. In addition, Nick has completed fellowship programs at the University of Pennsylvania, University of Southern California and Harvard University.
