The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants developed the System and Organization Controls 2, or SOC 2, a gold standard of information data security standards. SOC 2 offers a security framework that specifies how organizations should protect customer data from unauthorized access, security incidents, and other vulnerabilities.
SOC 2 is used to guide independent auditors in evaluating an organization’s operating effectiveness in its security protocols to determine compliance around five Trust Services Criteria (TSC) with varying requirements: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy.
