Recent studies suggest that nearly 1 million adults in the US are living with multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic disease of the central nervous system which can result in a significant impact on quality of life. Since the first disease-modifying therapy approval in 1993 (interferon beta-1b), the nature of MS care has changed substantially. Within the last five years alone, eight new DMTs have been approved and new treatment options are expected to continue to emerge with multiple DMTs in the pipeline. Given this rapidly evolving nature of MS care, this session will provide an overview of how newer treatment options fit into the current MS treatment landscape as well as discuss new and emerging evidence related to MS therapy that pharmacists can utilize to help patients optimally manage their treatment. | ||
