Specialty Pharmacy Technician of the Year Award Criteria
The Specialty Pharmacy Technician of the Year Award is given to the individual who has made a recent singular, significant achievement or career long contributions to serving the needs of specialty pharmacy patients.
EVALUATION CRITERIA
Nominees will be evaluated according to criteria in the following four categories:
IMPACT ON PATIENT JOURNEY (45%)
- Contributes consistently and proactively to positively impacting the patient journey and achieving optimal patient outcomes
- Achieves and promotes patient safety
- Supports the pharmacists, members of the pharmacy team, and serves as the “backbone” of the pharmacy
INNOVATION AND LEADERSHIP (25%)
- Provides consistent, reliable counsel and innovative ideas focused on assisting members of the healthcare team in the delivery of superior patient care
- Enhances operational efficiency and customer service through innovative ideas and process improvements to streamline and improve
- Establishes and distinguishes themselves as an exemplary advocate for the specialty pharmacy industry
ADVANCEMENT OF THE PROFESSION (15%)
- Advances the role and professionalization of pharmacy technicians
- Seeks continuing education opportunities, professional growth and development, and assists others in advancing their careers by contributing to their education and training
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT (15%)
- Exemplifies themselves through their contributions to the specialty pharmacy community directly impacting the patient experience (example: volunteerism for patient advocacy organizations to support mission-based activities or to raise awareness and/or funds)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Nominee must be a current NASP corporate or individual member in good standing
- Nominee must be a practicing pharmacy technician in a specialty pharmacy
NOMINATION PROCESS
- The nominator must be an NASP corporate or individual member in good standing.
- The nominator is responsible for submitting a complete award nomination application. The nomination should include a 100 word minimum to 300 word maximum narrative for each evaluation criteria section describing why the nominee is deserving of this award.
- All 2026 nominations must be submitted by May 29, 2026.
SELECTION PROCESS
The NASP Membership Committee will use a blinded, unbiased, and weighted scoring process according to the defined evaluation criteria.
AWARD
The Specialty Pharmacy Technician of the Year Award will be presented at the inSPire2026 conference on September 23. The recipient will receive a trophy, complimentary 2027 conference registration, and recognition on the NASP website, in a press release, in The Advocate quarterly newsletter, social media, and other NASP communication materials.
