NASP Weighs in On Budget Reconciliation Debate – Addresses Concerns Regarding Changes to Pharmacy-Related Medicaid Reforms
As the budget reconciliation bill continues to advance, last night the Senate made a sudden shift, removing Medicaid spread pricing reform from the bill and leaving only a provision to require all pharmacies to report into NADAC.
NASP joined others in the pharmacy community to raise alarm before the Senate tries to complete its work on the bill by the weekend.
In a letter to the Honorable John Thune, Majority Leader of the United States Senate, NASP and others stated:
“Given the unjustifiable removal from the budget reconciliation bill of crucial Medicaid pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) reforms, we must insist on the elimination of the provision mandating participation in the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost (NADAC) survey. These two provisions were always meant to be moved together as one policy.”
