PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program Purpose: To build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy education and outcomes to develop community-based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills who are eligible to pursue advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications. This residency program is a training opportunity for pharmacists to enhance their skill set in the community pharmacy setting with a focus on complex specialty disease states. Graduates will possess the necessary skills needed to secure positions in the following areas specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care practice settings, management opportunities, and academia. The residency program is conducted across four Walgreens Specialty Pharmacies and two ambulatory care clinics in Indianapolis, IN. These locations are tailored to provide the training necessary for graduates to emerge with a unique skill set in a multitude of settings. At these sites, the resident will work closely with providers and patients to provide affordable specialty drug therapies. Through this program, the resident gains experience in the delivery of clinical services, conducting research, precepting students, and participating in a teaching certification.
