Kelly Matthews, PharmD, CSP

Kelly Mathews, PharmD, CSP is the Director, Patient Value and Outcome Reporting (PVOR) under the Patient Services team at Optum Specialty Pharmacy since February 2020. Prior to that, she was the Director, Clinical Services at Avella Specialty Pharmacy since 2012. Kelly earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy in 2009. Her post-graduate education has included a PGY1 Community Residency with The Apothecary Shops in Phoenix, Arizona. She is a Certified Specialty Pharmacy at a URAC and ACHC accredited national distribution center specialty pharmacy, working with patients, providers, industry and payors across the country.

In her current role, Kelly is responsible for overseeing a team of clinical pharmacists, analysts and a program manager within the PVOR team. PVOR has an ASHP accredited pharmacy residency program, with responsibilities including patient management, research project, business plan, quality improvement plan and collaboration with other Optum entities, such as OptumRx MTM, OptumCare and Optum Infusion. She also leads health economic and outcomes research (HEOR) to provide real world patient and clinical outcome analytics and reporting for our specialty partners. Through this, Kelly has contributed to multiple research projects and publications. Lastly, her team oversees the Patient Services Reporting Governance Committee, with responsibility of approval of Reports/Dashboard, standard calculation metrics and Proof Points suitable for the marketplace.

Kelly is adjunct faculty with Midwestern College of Pharmacy, Glendale campus. She was awarded a Sage of Clinical Services by UnitedHealth Group in 2019. In her free time, Kelly enjoys painting, hiking and travelling.
