Gerald A. Maccioli, MD, MBA, FCCM, FASA practiced Critcal Care Medicine and Anesthesiology in Raleigh, NC for 27 years. During that time, he served variously as American Society of Anesthesiologists Director for North Carolina, President of the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists, and Chair of the ASA Section on Education and Research. He has also held various leadership roles in other organizations such as Chair of the American Medical Association Committee of Innovators.

He completed fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Duke University following a residency in Anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an Internal Medicine internship at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Maccioli has contributed and written over 50 clinical papers, abstracts, editorials, and book chapters. He has been an invited speaker at a variety of state and national meetings on diverse topics such as resuscitation, the practice of critical care medicine, public policy, payment reform and quality improvement. Dr. Maccioli continued his education at Auburn University’s, Raymond J. Harbert College of business, earning a Master’s in Business Administration in 2016. Dr. Maccioli severed as Chief Quality Officer for Envision Healthcare from 2015-2020 overseeing approximately 35 million patient visits in a variety of specialties.

He currently serves as Vice President, Medical Affairs for the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC).
